Sports Science
Most Highland Institute of Sport athletes receive an integrated sport science programme led by their coach and/or national governing body but delivered locally by the Highland Institute of Sport.
Nutrition
Athletes receive an initial dietary profile from the Institute Nutritionist, Jan Masson. Advice is given according to the athletes requirements to help optimise both training and competition performance.
Psychology
Sports psychology helps athletes learn practical techniques for maintaining control in a competitive situation.
Psychologist, Donald McNaughton, works with Highland Institute athletes helping them mentally prepare for competition. Skill development, motivation and personal control techniques are all part of the preparation for getting athletes appropriately focussed towards achieving their goals.

Test results are used by coaches and service providers to specifically manipulate training as we continue to aim for comprehensive improvements in performance.
