Strength and ConditioningStrength and Conditioning remains an integral part of our athlete programmes in terms of enhancing performance and preventing injury. The Highland Institute of sport have enhanced their provision of this service, generating four supervised sessions per week held in our new facilities at Inverness Leisure. Further integration of services occurs with Highland Institute of Sport physiotherapists running sports injury clinic sessions alongside the Monday and Wednesday Strength and Conditioning sessions.
As we aim for optimal progression and peak performance, athletes follow personalised programmes based on a needs analysis in accordance with the individual and their sporting requirements. Coaches and athletes remain integral to this process so the objectives of both can remain the key target. To make training venues more accessible for athletes the Highland Institute of Sport have Strength and Conditioning facilities on Orkney, at Glenmore Lodge, Millburn Academy in Inverness and at the Highland Football Academy in Dingwall. Strength and Conditioning sessions are supervised at Inverness Leisure by Catriona Walker, Jas Hepburn, Neil Bowman, John Coogans and Liz McKinnon with Garry Burton taking sessions on Orkney and Carol Flett in Moray. It is hoped that this year will see an increase in the number of coaches coming into the Highland Institute which will ensure continual progression of the provision of this service. |
