Profile

Name: Ewen Urquhart

Sport: Squash

I'm now 17 and in my 6th year at Charleston Academy.

I've started my third year as a Highland Institute of Sport athlete and as a member of the Herriot-Watt Squash Academy. I've been playing squash for 6 years at my local club, ITSC, and currently have coaching sessions 4 times a week as well as attending the HIS Strength and Conditioning twice a week. On top of that I go to Herriot-Watt Academy coaching 9 times a year of which two are full weekend sessions.

I am now in the U19 catergory and wish to climb up that rankings as quickly as possible, but in order to do this my intensity at strength and conditioning must increase and I also need to train harder to keep up my CV fitness. My long term goal to compete well at the european tournaments that I attend in Sweden, Wales and Scotland and therfore increase my european ranking. As I am in the U19's now I would also like to go to the Brittish Junior Open which is one of the highest level junior competions to compete in. From this I would gain a lot of experience and begin to realise what it takes to be at the top.

In my spare time I like to get on the golf course as much as I can and I also play football for my school team in centre-midfield. I also like to go mountain biking with ITSC which keeps my fitness up and play any other sports... if I find the time!!
