| Name: Andrew Musgrave Sport: XC Skiing ![]() | I began cross-country skiing at the age of 5, while living in Alaska. I lived here until I was 11, before moving to Aberdeenshire. In Alaska skiing became one of my main hobbies, and at the age of 8 I began to compete in local races. When I moved to Aberdeenshire I joined the local ski club, Huntly Nordic Ski Club, and through them was put in touch with the British Junior Nordic Development Squad. I began training with the development squad and was taken to more competive races, starting with small-scale club races in Europe, and slowly building the level of competition. Last year I had a good season, becoming the number 1 ranked British skier for distance events. I was also ranked in the top 10 in the world for my age-group. At the end of the season I qualified to race in the World Cup. Next season I am hoping to compete in World Cup events, as well as the Senior World Championships. |
